Alas, our beloved Anna Nicole Smith has slipped away for good and is heading off to that great pharmacy in the sky. I don't know how it played around the rest of the country (or the world for that matter) but seeing as how it happened down here in South Florida, EVERY local channel (as well as CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc) flooded the airwaves with the typical repetitious reporting that seemed almost mind-numbing and reminded me of the coverage that they gave to September 11th or Hurricane Katrina. It's like they didn't have much to report other than the fact that she was dead, but the news stations quickly assembled panels of so-called experts and former business associates and went to town doing what the media-machine does best: CREATING NEWS AND TALKING IN CIRCLES AND THUS DUMBING DOWN OUR SOCIETY JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE.
