The Akai Miniak

I just picked up a brand new Akai Miniak dirty-dirt cheap and thus far, I'm pretty impressed! Unlike most synths, the pitch and mod wheels are above the keyboard, so that's definitely taking some getting used to. Also, I'm not really impressed with the vocoder when compared to the vocoder on the microKORG, but then again, I haven't really spent a lot of time trying to tweak my own patches. Speaking of patches, I'm also running Hypersynth's Miniak Editor which makes patch editing a much more intuitive operation as opposed to the built-in single button/multi-page process. So far, I've only jammed with it, but I plan on recording with it over the next few days. Stay tuned!
